El Día de San Antonio
El Día de San Antonio (the Feast Day of Saint Anthony) has
always been a special day in Los Sauces, Colorado. The
annual celebration still takes place in June. This year
will mark a special event. New church doors have been
installed. This was made possible by the contributions of
people with heritage ties to Los Sauces. The project was
coordinated by Joe O. Marquez of the
¿Qué Pasa? Family Newsletter.
In addition, donors have contributed funds to maintain
future upkeep of the church. Memorial plaques commemorating
former Los Sauces residents now deceased will be installed
at the church as well. Both the new doors and memorial
plaques will be dedicated at the upcoming Día de San
Antonio celebration set for Sat. June 16, 2007. More
information about the event will be forthcoming.
This
year's upcoming Día de San Antonio celebration will be a
fine opportunity for people to visit the village, and to
renew or make acquaintances with others who have heritage
ties to the village.
