"Life in Los Sauces " is a detailed account of the lives of people who lived in an isolated Spanish-speaking village of the San Luis Valley of Southern Colorado. Olivama Salazar de Valdez records her recollections there in the Twenties and Thirties of the Twentieth Century. Farm practices, daily life, cultural aspects and spiritual matters are among the various topics discussed. There are occasions of joy, sadness and humor in the true stories recorded. Historical facts are included, which contributed to the events that led to the settlement of this village near the confluence of the Rio Grande and Conejos Rivers.
